Black Horse Care Limited is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to the global efforts to combat climate change. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines the steps we will take to measure, reduce, and offset carbon emissions across our operations, while promoting sustainability in our services and day-to-day activities.

Our company’s carbon footprint mainly stems from our vehicle fleet, energy consumption at offices and facilities, waste generation, and the supply chain associated with providing care services. This plan will focus on strategies to reduce carbon emissions across these areas.

2.Baseline Emissions Footprint

The baseline year provides a reference point against which emissions reduction progress can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2023

• Scope 1 (Direct emissions):
  Emissions from company-owned vehicles used for client visits (petrol/diesel cars).
  Estimated: 25 tCO₂e
• Scope 2 (Indirect emissions from purchased electricity):
  Emissions from electricity use at the head office/administrative premises.
  Estimated: 5 tCO₂e
• Scope 3 (Indirect emissions from supply chain and other activities):
  • Employee commuting
  • Business travel (public transport/taxis)
  • Purchased goods & services (medical supplies, office materials)
  • Waste disposal
    Estimated: 60 tCO₂e

Total Baseline Emissions (2023): 90 tCO₂e

3. Current/Most Recent Reporting Year

Reporting Year: 2024

• Scope 1 (Direct emissions):
  Fleet emissions reduced through partial switch to hybrid/electric vehicles.

• Scope 2 (Indirect emissions):
  Office electricity sourced from a renewable tariff.
  2 tCO₂e
• Scope 3 (Indirect emissions):
  Supplier engagement and reduction in business travel.

4. Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Since the 2023 baseline, the following measures have been implemented:

• Transition of 30% of the company car fleet to hybrid vehicles.
• Switched to a renewable energy supplier for office electricity.
• Introduced staff training on efficient route planning to reduce travel miles.
• Increased use of digital care records to reduce paper consumption.

Engaged suppliers to promote sustainable procurement practices.

5. Future Carbon Reduction Measures

Planned initiatives include:

• Transitioning the full fleet to electric vehicles by 2030.
• Installing EV charging points at the office premises.
• Expanding use of remote monitoring technology to reduce unnecessary travel.
• Partnering with low-carbon suppliers and reviewing procurement policy.
• Enhancing staff awareness of sustainability practices.

6. Declaration & Approval

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance. It has been reviewed and approved by the company’s management.
